Essentia Analytics Joins Boris Johnson on His FinTech Delegation
5 Feb, 2015
Essentia Analytics has been selected by Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London, to join his FinTech delegation to New York and Boston from 9-14 February 2015.
The delegation, jointly organised by the Mayor’s Export Programme and UKTI, consists of FinTech and EnterpriseTech start-ups chosen for the investment potential of their businesses. Essentia, which opened an office in New York in 2014, will meet with U.S.-based investors and fund management companies looking to implement new technologies, alongside attending events and workshops to encourage transatlantic trade.
Essentia will be represented on the trip by its founder and CEO, Clare Flynn Levy. Flynn Levy comments: “I’m thrilled that we’ve been recognised as leaders in the UK’s FinTech space by the Mayor and UKTI. Essentia offers a universal product that will help professional investors worldwide make better decisions, so it’s an honour to be chosen to accompany Boris Johnson and speak directly to the U.S. fund management market with him.”
Essentia’s decision-support technology provides professional investors with a fuller understanding of the effectiveness of their investment processes and the cognitive biases at play in their work. This enables investors to maximise their “return on energy expended”. The software is grounded in the latest behavioural finance research, making it simple to identify patterns in and reflect upon an individual’s investment process.
Boris Johnson comments: “This is a brilliant opportunity to take the best and brightest of London’s technology start-ups to meet potential investors and clients in the United States. London leads the way in this sector, and I hope this visit will encourage more companies to expand their growth ambitions and look overseas for trade opportunities – just as Essentia Analytics is doing.”
Numerous organisations have recognised the innovative nature of Essentia and its software, which will celebrate its first full year on the market in March 2015. The company was recently listed in FinTech City’s Hot Ten 2015, and named one of Business Insider’s 15 most innovative finance start-ups in Europe. Essentia has also been recognised within the hedge fund industry, winning Hedge Fund Journal’s Best Performance Data Analytics Award and the Best Buy-Side Data Analytics Award in WatersTechnology’s Buy-Side Technology Awards.

About Essentia Analytics
Essentia Analytics is at the nexus of Behavioural Finance and Data Science, providing professional investors with an enhanced understanding of their own behaviour so that they can consistently play to their strengths and avoid acting on cognitive bias.
Developed by leading neuroscientists, software engineers and ex-fund managers, the company’s cloud-based software enables fund managers to capture richer data about both their own behaviour and its context, turning trade, market and biometric data into better future investment decisions. The result is a simple, accurate, continuous feedback loop – the same sort that professional athletes use to achieve excellence.
Appropriate for traditional active managers, hedge funds and multi-manager platforms, high and low turnover portfolios, the software has already been adopted by several of the world’s leading investment managers, including Talisman Global Asset Management and Union Investment, despite being less than two years old.
Essentia Analytics, which is headquartered in London, was founded in 2013 by former fund manager Clare Flynn Levy. The software was launched in March 2014.
